This recipe will guide you through the steps to brew a classic cup of tea that will comfort and rejuvenate your senses. Let's begin!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon loose tea leaves or 1 tea bag (black, green, or your preferred variety)
  • Sugar or honey (optional)
  • Milk (optional)

Instructions:

1. Boil the water: Place a kettle or pot on the stove and bring the water to a rolling boil. Freshly drawn cold water is best for brewing tea, as it contains more oxygen, enhancing flavour.

2. Warm the teapot (optional): If you use it, pour hot water to warm the pot. This step helps maintain the temperature of the tea during brewing.

3. Measure the tea: Measure the desired amount of loose tea leaves using a teaspoon. You'll need one tea bag per cup of water if using tea bags.

4. Steeping the tea:

   - Loose tea leaves: Place the tea leaves in a tea infuser or directly into the teapot if using a strainer. Pour the boiling water over the tea leaves and let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Adjust the steeping time based on your preference for a stronger or milder flavour.

   - Tea bags: Place the tea bag in a cup and pour the boiling water over it. Let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes.

5. Remove the tea leaves or tea bag: After the desired steeping time, remove the tea leaves or tea bag from the teapot or cup. Press the tea bag against the side of the cup to extract any remaining flavour.

6. Sweeten and add milk (optional): If desired, add sugar or honey to taste. Stir until dissolved. You can also add milk to create a creamy texture and mellow the flavor. Adjust the amount of milk based on your preference, ranging from a splash to a generous pour.

7. Serve and enjoy: Pour the brewed tea into your favorite teacup or mug. Take a moment to appreciate the aroma wafting from the cup. Sit back, relax, and savour each sip of your homemade cup of tea.

Tips:

  • Experiment with different varieties of tea, such as black, green, herbal, or flavoured teas, to find your favourite.
  • Adjust the steeping time and tea-to-water ratio to achieve your preferred strength and flavour.
  • Use fresh, high-quality tea leaves for the best taste.
  • Serve tea with biscuits, scones, or any other accompaniment of your choice.
