Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt


Instructions:

1. combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water in a small bowl. Stir gently and sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the centre and pour the yeast mixture and olive oil.

3. Stir the mixture with a spoon until it becomes a rough dough.

4. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.

5. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours until it doubles.

6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Turn it onto a floured surface and knead it for a minute or two.

7. Divide the dough into two equal portions if you prefer thinner crusts, or leave it as one for thicker crusts. Shape each portion into a ball and let them rest for 10-15 minutes.

8. Preheat your oven to the highest temperature it can reach (usually around 475-500°F or 245-260°C).

9. Roll out each dough ball to your desired thickness and shape on a floured surface. Place the rolled dough onto a baking sheet or pizza stone.

10. Add your favourite toppings, such as sauce, cheese, vegetables, or meats, to the pizza dough.

11. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.

12. Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and enjoy your homemade pizza!
